Roofing across North Dublin
North Dublin, taken as the city suburbs inside the M50 rather than the county beyond it, has two distinct kinds of roof. Closer to the canal and along the older routes there are red brick terraces and pre-war semis with natural slate, tall chimney stacks and rear returns. Further out, the estates built from the 1950s onwards carry concrete tile on long, repetitive runs.
That split decides what a roof needs. Period slate roofs here mostly fail at the fixings and the details — corroded nails, valleys, chimney flashing, hidden gutters. Estate tile roofs fail at the mortar: ridge and hip bedding, verge pointing, and a roofline that has been dealing with overflowing gutters for years. Coastal streets around Clontarf and Raheny add wind exposure on top of both.
Vantage Roofing works regularly across the northside, and because two mobile teams are on the road most days, jobs in neighbouring districts are usually run together. Free written quotations follow an inspection; emergency roof repair call-outs run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Local Knowledge
What North Dublin roofs are like
The roof types and recurring faults we meet across this part of the county.
Older terraces and semis
Natural slate on timber, rear returns, shared chimney stacks and valleys. The slate frequently outlives the nails holding it, so slippage rather than broken slate is the usual complaint.
Post-war estate housing
Concrete tile on long terraces, where ridge, hip and verge mortar and the fascia, soffit and gutter line are what age rather than the tiles.
Coastal exposure
Streets nearer the bay take more wind-driven rain and salt air, which is hard on ridges, verges, flat roof edges and rainwater goods.
Extensions and conversions
Rear extensions, converted garages and attic dormers across the northside bring flat roofs, rooflights and junctions that leak independently of the main roof.

FAQs
Roofing in North Dublin: common questions
Which north Dublin areas do you cover?
The northside suburbs generally, including the areas listed on this page and the districts between them. If you are unsure, call with your area or Eircode and we will confirm.
Do you have a depot on the northside?
No. Vantage Roofing has one business address, at 39 Northumberland Rd, Ballsbridge, and works from the road across the city. That does not affect coverage — the northside is regular working territory.
Can you look at several houses on the same terrace?
Yes, and where neighbours have the same roof it often makes sense. Each house is still assessed and quoted on its own, because histories and past repairs differ.
